You Might’ve Missed
H100s at $1.38/hr on Thunder Compute — @ilyasu drops a one-liner on @AnjneyMidha's pricing post: while neoclouds are renting H100s for $2.75/hr (and a16z's Oxygen program got them for $1.72/hr back in 2023), Thunder Compute is now listing them at $1.38/hr. Cheaper than the VC deals from two years ago.
ForgeCAD SKILLs are now open-source — @ruben_kostard releases the SKILLs he's been using to build his ForgeCAD models. Grab them off GitHub and start spinning up CAD the same way he does.
LWD: robots that train while they work — @jianlanluo unveils Learning While Deploying — robots that keep learning during real jobs: restocking groceries, brewing Gongfu tea, mixing cocktails, juicing, packing shoes. Deployment stops being just evaluation and becomes the training loop itself.
SF Compute is hiring across the board — @evanjconrad opens up roles in systems engineering, data center development, and product/brand design at San Francisco Compute. SFC sells GPU clusters on contracts you can sublease, vertically integrated from data centers up to a cloud platform, with veterans from Voltage Park, Tesla, Meta, Lambda, Red Hat, Hut8, Canonical, and Sun. Striker × AWS on the robotics stack — @strikervp teams up with @awscloud to break down the multi-modal AI stack powering frontier robotics — and the world models coming next. Features work with @ElorianAI and Striker's stealth embodied AI portfolio.
The Hugging Face robot is a hit with the kids — @zackslab tries the @huggingface bot at home and reports back: it's a solid home-assistant replacement that can run on or connect to your own local models. The kids approve.
Google DeepMind partners with Korea — @ivanleomk shares that @GoogleDeepMind has a new partnership with Korea: 85,000+ researchers there are already on AlphaFold, plus active collaborations with the Korean AI Safety Institute and a lot more on the way.
WarGames: agents playing Red Alert from pixels — @layerbrain drops WarGames, a real-time RL environment where agents play Command & Conquer: Red Alert using only pixels, mouse, and keyboard. Episodes stretch hundreds to thousands of actions, rewards come from hidden simulator state, and it's built for long-horizon vision-first agents that have to plan and adapt as the world shifts.
